RESIDENTIAL FLOOR COATING SYSTEMS
Limited Lifetime Warranty
Clear coverage for qualifying residential floor coating systems installed by Mid-West Concrete Coatings, subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions below.
Important note: This page is a plain-language summary. The customer's signed proposal, contract and warranty certificate control if there is any difference. The covered system, warranty duration and transfer rights are those stated in those project documents.
What the warranty covers
For an eligible residential installation completed by Mid-West Concrete Coatings over a properly prepared substrate, the covered coating system is warranted against the following coating failures during the applicable warranty period:
- Delamination — Separation of the coating from a properly prepared, sound substrate.
- Peeling or blistering — Failure of the coating system under normal residential use.
- Chipping — Coating failure not caused by impact, gouging, abrasion, abuse or substrate failure.
- UV discoloration — Only where the selected system is expressly identified in the signed agreement as including UV-discoloration coverage.
The remedy is limited
If Mid-West Concrete Coatings confirms a covered failure, the sole remedy is the repair or replacement of the affected coating-system materials, as described in the signed agreement and subject to the limitations in this warranty. Coverage does not automatically include replacement of the entire floor.
"Lifetime" follows the signed project documents
The meaning and duration of "lifetime," including any owner or property limitations, are defined by the customer's signed proposal, contract or warranty certificate. This page does not extend coverage beyond those documents or beyond the warranty provided for the selected coating system.
Eligibility and installation conditions
When coverage applies
This limited warranty applies only when all of the following conditions are met:
- The project is a qualifying residential application.
- The coating system was installed by Mid-West Concrete Coatings or an installer expressly authorized by Mid-West Concrete Coatings.
- The substrate was sound and properly prepared for the selected system at the time of installation.
- The installation was accepted, all required project paperwork was completed, and all project charges were paid in full.
- The floor has been used and maintained in accordance with the care instructions for the installed system.
- No alteration, addition or repair has been made to the coating or substrate without written authorization from Mid-West Concrete Coatings, except for a genuine emergency repair.
Proper surface preparation is essential
Warranty coverage depends on installation over a properly prepared receiving surface. Appropriate preparation may include mechanical grinding or shot-blasting and the removal of prior coatings, sealers, laitance, efflorescence, curing compounds, water repellents, oils, grease, waxes, soluble salts and any other material that could interfere with adhesion. The preparation method and acceptable surface condition must follow the specifications and application procedures for the coating system selected for the project. Substrate conditions that are hidden, internal or outside the installer's reasonable control are not covered.
Cracks are not warranted. Concrete can move, expand, contract and crack before or after installation. Cracks, crack repair and coating failure caused by substrate movement are excluded, even if a crack was repaired during the original installation.
Transfer to a new owner
If the signed project documents identify the warranty as transferable, the new owner must provide the original contract or quote and proof of ownership. Any transfer remains subject to the original coverage period, conditions and exclusions. A transfer does not restart or expand the warranty.
Repairs may look different
Reasonable efforts will be made to blend a covered repair with the surrounding floor. Color, gloss, texture and flake distribution can change over time, however, and an exact match is not guaranteed.
What is not covered
Substrate or structural failure
Failure, movement, settlement, expansion, contraction or deterioration of the concrete, structure or underlying substrate; improper substrate construction; internal substrate failure; improper concrete mixes; rotten wood; and similar conditions that prevent or reduce adhesion.
Cracks and moisture
Existing or future cracks, crack repair, ground movement, hydrostatic pressure, vapor transmission, or moisture originating within, below or next to the concrete surface.
Abuse, impact or alteration
Physical abuse, vandalism, gouging, mechanical impact, abrasion beyond the system's intended use, nails, screws, unauthorized modifications, or work performed by others.
Heat, flame and chemicals
Exposure to heat or flame; battery acid; brake fluid; solvents; corrosive chemicals; high concentrations of acids; salt-water environments; or any substance outside the coating system's intended service conditions.
Normal aging and weathering
Normal wear, weathering, atmospheric effects, oxidation, fading or other appearance changes that are not expressly covered for the selected system.
Events beyond reasonable control
Windstorms, lightning, fire, plant or animal activity and other natural events or circumstances beyond the reasonable control of Mid-West Concrete Coatings.
Unsuitable applications
Decks, pressure-treated lumber, showers, tubs, salt-water applications and any surface or use not approved in writing for the selected coating system.
Damage beyond the system's design
Damage caused by use, equipment, traffic, loading, impact or abrasion beyond the scope and protection the installed system was designed to provide.
Coverage follows the cause of failure. A visible chip, peel, blister or area of delamination is not covered when the underlying cause is an excluded substrate condition, crack, impact, chemical exposure, moisture condition, unauthorized repair or other exclusion listed above.
Exclusive remedy and limits
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the exclusive remedy for a covered claim is limited to the repair or replacement of the affected coating-system materials. Mid-West Concrete Coatings may inspect the area and determine the appropriate repair method. The warranty does not create coverage for a condition excluded elsewhere on this page or in the signed project documents.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, total liability arising from the products, installation, warranty, contract or any other theory will not exceed the original purchase price paid for the covered coating system. Mid-West Concrete Coatings will not be liable for incidental, indirect, special or consequential damages, including loss of use, loss of time, inconvenience, or damage to the floor's contents, surrounding property or structure.
Except for the express limited warranty stated in the controlling project documents, and to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Mid-West Concrete Coatings disclaims other express or implied warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in this warranty limits a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
This limited warranty supersedes prior oral or written warranty representations relating to the covered project. Descriptions, samples, models and color displays are used to identify and illustrate the product; they do not guarantee an exact color, texture, gloss level or appearance unless the signed agreement expressly says otherwise.
Slip-resistance notice
No floor coating is slip-proof. A coated surface may become slippery, especially when wet or exposed to oil, grease, snow, ice, dust or other contaminants. The property owner is responsible for routine cleaning, appropriate warning and reasonable safety measures for residents, guests and invitees.
How to make a warranty claim
Contact Mid-West Concrete Coatings promptly after discovering a possible covered failure. Be prepared to provide:
- The original contract, quote or warranty certificate;
- Proof of ownership if the warranty was transferred;
- Clear photographs and a description of the affected area; and
- Reasonable access for inspection before repair work is performed.
Do not alter or repair the affected area before inspection unless an emergency repair is reasonably necessary to prevent immediate additional damage.
